Maja – Pennsylvania, USA

I love trying new things, traveling and challenging myself. That is why I wanted to become an exchange student, and I have not regretted it at all! I chose the US because I wanted to improve my English and try the “high school experience”. I was in Jonestown, PA with USA Classic in 15/16.

“I have learned so much during my exchange year, and I am so thankful for every day I spent there.”

I ended up in a rural area which was awesome because it was so different from what I am used to in Denmark. My host family lived on a farm, so they had many different animals. They also had fields with the most beautiful sunsets. My host family was really open and welcoming and they took me on different trips. I went to church every Sunday with my host family. I do not attend church in Denmark, but I had a lot of fun there.

“I think the most important things as an exchange student are to be open, smiling, and enjoying every moment.”

Many of my favorite moments from my exchange year were from high school activities. In the fall I played tennis and I even placed 3rdat the state championship. I also participated in the school play, powderpuff (girls playing American football), musical, and track and field. I met a lot of great people during these activities and it was a lot of fun.

I have learned so much during my exchange year, and I am so thankful for every day I spent there. When I came home, I had grown so much (mentally and physicallyJ) . I can still use what I have learned in my everyday life, even though it is three years ago.

I think the most important things as an exchange student are to be open, smiling, and enjoying every moment.
